How can I check the status of my order

Can I cancel my order?
Sorry to hear you want to cancel your order! Please contact hello@patternbeauty.com. We can only cancel orders that have not yet been processed for shipping.
How do I track my order?

How do I return my order?
We are sorry to hear you would like to return your product.
Please contact Customer Care at hello@patternbeauty.com and we’ll be more than happy to assist! You may request a refund within 30 days of the purchase date.
For patternbeauty.com purchases made on or after Thursday, November 16, 2024 through and including Sunday, December 31, 2024 we will offer an extended returns and exchanges holiday period of 45 days. Products must be returned or exchanged on or before Tuesday, February 14, 2025 to qualify. Any purchases made after Sunday December 31, 2024 will follow our normal 30-day Return Policy guidelines. All other terms of our Return Policy continue to apply.
What happens if I order something and it's out of stock?
We hate it when that happens, but things move fast! We will contact you and refund you the full price of the item and refund your card or account for the value of the item within 3-5 business days.
I entered the wrong address what can I do?
Contact hello@patternbeauty.com immediately. In some cases, we may be able to change the address for you if your order hasn't already been processed.
My order never arrived (lost or stolen shipment). What do I do?
PATTERN is not responsible for lost or stolen shipments. You will be responsible for filing a claim with the carrier. Once your claim has been filed, please contact us directly at hello@patternbeauty.com with information regarding your situation and your claim number.
What if my item is damaged upon receipt?
Please contact our Customer Care team at hello@patternbeauty.com. Please be prepared to provide photographic evidence of the damage you experienced, and we’ll take it from there!
I don't want to pay taxes and duties. What can I do?
At this time PATTERN does not offer to cover the international shipping duties and taxes due to the variability of the charges. You will be charged for duties and taxes at the time of delivery. Should you decide to refuse to pay these duties, the order will be returned and a refund for the cost of the items minus any shipping fees will be refunded immediately upon receipt.

WHAT DOES PATTERN MEAN?
PATTERN was inspired by robust variations of curl patterns in any given mane of hair. In our hair journeys, knowing and embracing our individual and sometimes ever-changing curl patterns is key to rocking hair that is healthy & hydrated, juicy & joyful.
ARE YOUR CONTAINERS RECYCLABLE?
Yes, we do our best to make sure our packaging is as sustainable as possible. All of our tubes and bottles are made of recyclable plastics and resins, so when you finish up your PATTERN products please recycle.
WHERE ARE PATTERN PRODUCTS MADE/MANUFACTURED?
PATTERN products are proudly made in the USA utilizing domestic and imported components. Our Tool & Accessories are made in China.

I had an allergic reaction, what do I do?
Please discontinue use and consult your physician or medical care provider immediately. From there please let us know what product you used and the reaction you had. Contact us at: hello@patternbeauty.com. We always recommend performing a spot test prior to
use if you feel you may have a heightened level of sensitivity.
Are your products sulfate-free?
Although our products are not sulfate-free, they are free of SLS & SLES. Our products do not contain any harsh, hair-stripping solvents, and our Hydration Shampoo provides the gentle suds needed to get in there while scrubbing the hair and scalp to give you a good wash day! Our products hydrate, condition, nourish and moisturize the hair even while cleaning.
Are your products color safe?
Yes
Are your products gluten-free?
While not all of our items are gluten-free, we do have a selection of products that are. Please use our filters on the PATTERN website to find gluten-free products for your curls & coils.
Do your products contain nuts?
While our formulas do not contain peanuts, which is the biggest allergen in the nut family, many of our formulas do contain Sweet Almond Oil, which has been used for centuries in curly hair for moisture retention. Please consult your physician prior to use if you are known to have nut allergies.
Are your products cruelty-free?
Yes! No animals were harmed in the making of these products. We test all of our products on a panel of people with curly, coily and tightly textured hair perfecting on us humans and never on animals. Our brand is PETA-certified.
Is PATTERN vegan?
Some of our items contain Honey which is known for its moisturizing properties, so no--not a fully-vegan line.
Is your packaging recyclable?
Yes, we always try to keep sustainability in mind when bringing new products into the world. Our tubes & caps are both fully-recyclable polypropylene (PP), and you don’t even have to separate the cap from the tube when recycling. Bottles are HDPE or glass (fully recyclable), and we use paper components where possible (paper is fully recyclable).
Do you use silicones?
PATTERN products are free of cyclic silicones (D4 & D5) complying with EU standards (these 2 types of silicones are believed by certain EU regulators to potentially be bad for the environment). We formulated our products being very conscious of the particular silicones we were choosing and at which levels in order to provide the best curly hair care experience without weighing down the hair. Our Product Development team continues to work with chemists to stay on top of new raw materials and technologies as we move towards silicone-free formulas in the future that don’t compromise on performance.
Why do you use Amodimethicone?
We used Amodimethicone in our Hydration Shampoo, Medium Conditioner & Leave-in Conditioner for conditioning performance. Commonly used in conditioners, Amodimethicone is a non-cyclic silicone that is super lightweight and offers great conditioning benefits to the hair. Our team is currently working & committed to testing
high-performance alternatives for the future.
How do I define my curl type?
Hair is evolving always and you could potentially have different curl patterns in different areas around your head or experience a shift in your hair as time, products and methods change.

Are products tear-free?
Though PATTERN uses plant-based surfactants that are free of harsh surfactants and sodium chloride,
we did not formulate these products specifically for children and didn’t test
them to be tear free. However, that is always a possibility for the future!
Can children use PATTERN products?
Our formulas were not designed for children, and we recommend products be used only by children 6 and up.
How are your products different than any other curl products on the market?
When developing the line, the PATTERN team, led by our boss lady leader Tracee Ellis Ross, was very specific with every detail. Our packaging was developed to provide maximum product usage and to add value to your hair experience. Our conditioners are larger in size because we know how curly, coily and tight textures condition more than shampoo. Each of our products encompasses the “PATTERN slip” which allows all of our conditioners to slide and glide while penetrating the hair strand and promoting great “clumping” and curl definition.
What is recommended for dry hair and scalp?
No one knows your hair better than you, so inevitably the choice is yours. All PATTERN products have been formulated with hydration and conditioning as the key benefits of every product as we know curly heads of hair can experience the most trouble retaining moisture. Our Mini Conditioner Trial Bundle is great for
experimenting with our 3 conditioners to learn which is yummiest for your hair,
and our Jojoba Oil Hair Serum is especially beloved by dry, itchy scalps.

Can PATTERN Body products be used on the face?
PATTERN Body products are formulated for the body. While some may be safe to use on the face, they are generally richer & contain fragrance levels designed for body skin. Use caution, especially if you have sensitive or facial skin concerns.
Do you use microbeads in your Dry Exfoliating Scrub?
No, this formula uses salt, a natural mineral, for exfoliation.
Is the fragrance all-natural?
The fragrance is a blend of natural and synthetic ingredients, but not fully natural.
What skin types are these products suitable for?
These products are suitable for all skin types. They’re formulated to replenish moisture, soothe rough patches, & leave skin feeling smooth, soft, & nourished.
How do I know which products are best for my skin type?
Our products are dermatologist-tested & undergo thorough, independent lab testing to guarantee their quality, effectiveness, & tolerance, even for sensitive skin. If you have questions about a specific product or what's best for your skin type, please don't hesitate to reach out to our customer service team. We'd love to help you build a routine that truly works for you.
How should I use these products?
You can use each product individually or together as part of a full routine. For best results, use the Dry Exfoliating Scrub before showering, follow with Moisturizing Body Wash, apply Nourishing Body Oil on damp skin, & finish with either Hydrating Body Lotion or Moisture Rich Body Cream.
Can products be used with other skincare products, such as those containing retinol or after chemical peels?
If you’re using active treatments or undergoing chemical skincare procedures, we recommend consulting your dermatologist for guidance & performing a patch test before use.
Can products be used with SPF?
Yes. However, we recommend consulting your dermatologist for personalized guidance & performing a patch test before use.
How should I store my products?
Store in a cool, dry place & ensure lids are sealed tightly after each use.
Are the products suitable for sensitive skin or those with allergies?
PATTERN Body is dermatologist-tested & formulated for all skin types, including sensitive skin & delicate areas, making them safe for external use. However, because every skin is unique, we recommend reviewing the ingredient list on our product pages, performing a patch test, & consulting your dermatologist if needed.

How does it work when I choose a nonprofit?
While checking out, just choose a nonprofit from a set we believe in. You can see the progress of the PATTERN community toward real goals for each nonprofit.
How much of my purchase will be donated?
1% of your purchase will be donated to the nonprofit you choose, at zero extra cost to you.
Can I keep track of the impact of my donation?
With every purchase, you can see your impact grow towards real goals--both personally and with the rest of the PATTERN community.
How often are donations given to each nonprofit?
Every time you choose a nonprofit, your choice is recorded in our backend & donations are made in aggregate to our nonprofit partners on a regular basis. This is easier for nonprofits to manage than getting tons of smaller donations, and the entire 1% donation goes directly to the nonprofit.
How do you choose the nonprofits you support?
We identified nonprofits that align with the key tenants of PATTERN’s mission. Every organization we support is a registered 501c3 nonprofit that has been vetted by both our internal teams & trusted third parties like Charity Navigator to be highly transparent and effective, using a minimum of 70% of donations towards programming rather than overhead (the gold standard).
Where do you get these goals?
It’s really important to us to be as transparent as possible with our customers about the direct impact they’re having when they choose to shop with us. These goals are supplied by our nonprofit partners as representations of what they could fund with donations of various sizes.
What happens when a goal is reached?
The progress bar resets and we can work to that goal again!
What happens to the donation if I return something?
If an item is returned, the transaction gets recorded as canceled & the donation will just be excluded from the aggregate amount that is donated to the nonprofit at the end of the month.
What is Beam anyway?
The feature in our cart that allows us to track your cause selection is powered by Beam. Beam is a female-founded social-impact tech company that turns your purchase into direct funding for nonprofits. By using this tool, we & our community are able to partner with other socially responsible brands to make big changes. You can learn more about them here.
Can I put my contribution on my taxes?
When you purchase our products, you are not being charged anything additional to make the donation. Instead, 1 % of your standard purchase is being contributed to the organization of your choice. For this reason, you cannot claim this on your taxes.
