Is hair cocktailing safe for coily and tight-textured hair?

Yes cocktailing is a widely practiced technique in the natural hair community. The important rule is to avoid layering products with conflicting ingredients (such as heavy silicones under water-based products) and to always start with the most water-like product before heavier creams and oils.

How do you layer products for a wash and go cocktail?

For a wash-and-go cocktail on coily hair, apply products from thinnest to thickest on soaking-wet hair: (1) Leave-In Conditioner raked through each section, (2) Styling Cream or Curl Cream scrunched in for moisture and definition, (3) Curl Gel applied in a praying-hands motion or scrunched for hold. Allow to dry without touching.

For Example:
- For a juicy wash & go, layer Leave-In Conditioner under Curl Gel while hair is soaking wet to lock in moisture and definition. Scrunch the ends to enhance clumping.
- For a slicked-back bun, apply Styling Cream at the roots, then smooth with a bristle brush and finish with Strong Hold Gel for a polished, all-day hold.
- For soft volume, use Hydrating Mist or Moisture Milk at the roots, then apply Mousse mid-shaft to ends and diffuse upside down for lift.
